In this growing era, people are freer<\/strong>, more independent <\/strong>and have access to set of information<\/strong> thanks to the internet. But still there are some taboo topics<\/strong> that people still find it difficult to communicate<\/strong> and find answers<\/strong> to. One such topic is Sexual Health.<\/strong> Today we are going to talk about \u2013 IT KIT<\/a>, a kit designed to prepare you for your adulthood.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Sex education<\/a> helps people gain the information, skills and motivation<\/strong> to make healthy decisions<\/strong> about sex and sexuality. It s high quality teaching about a broad variety of topics, exploring values and beliefs<\/strong> about those topics and gaining skills that are needed to navigate relationships<\/strong> and manage one\u2019s own sexual health.<\/strong> It usually takes place in schools, in community settings, or online.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answering questions is a major part of sex education. Two rules cover the ground. First, always give a truthful answer to any question; secondly, regard sex knowledge as exactly like any other knowledge.<\/p>– Bertrand Russell<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The IT KIT prototype was developed by a team<\/strong> at ISL<\/a> as part of the Innovation Next initiative<\/strong> with The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy<\/a> and IDEO<\/a>. It helps newly autonomous young women<\/strong> to be prepared<\/strong> for any sexual situations<\/strong> they would want to engage in. The idea is to create a box with safe sex products<\/strong> that evolves over user\u2019s age and preferences. A chat bot (IVY)<\/strong> powered by artificial intelligence via text messages and an optional parent integration<\/strong> to facilitate open, informed conversations<\/strong> between parents and teens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A kit designed to prepare you for your adulthood refers to the K-12 programs<\/strong> that cover a broad range of topics related to :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Human Development (<\/strong>reproduction, puberty, sexual orientation and gender identity)<\/li>
  2. Relationships<\/strong> (families, friendships, romantic relationships and dating)<\/li>
  3. Personal skills<\/strong> (communication, negotiation and decision-making)<\/li>
  4. Sexual behavior<\/strong> (abstinence and sexuality throughout life)<\/li>
  5. Sexual Health<\/strong> (sexually transmitted diseases, contraception and pregnancy)<\/li>
  6. Society and Culture<\/strong> (gender roles, diversity and sexuality in the media)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The content<\/strong> of the IT KIT<\/a> are quite quirky in design language<\/strong> to engage and attract<\/strong> the eye of a viewer. Majorly they have deck of cards<\/strong> for important questions and answers on topics like, What is consent? How to use condom? What to do if condom breaks?<\/strong> They also have comic strips<\/strong> to add a bit of humor<\/strong> to the exchange of knowledge. For certain serious doubts the AI chats<\/strong> are very helpful to know your surroundings and get help if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This kit helps, educates and protects teen girls<\/strong> during a pivotal time<\/strong> in their lives and be like a guardian angel<\/strong> to look out for you and make you feel safe. The awareness<\/strong> that comes from it is always an additional advantage and this kit also helps kids engage in smaller groups and have open minded conversations,<\/strong> At times, it has proved to be an educator for some parents, teachers and vital part of society. It\u2019s high time we start learning and passing<\/strong> on these value added information<\/strong> long with the basic education.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The core team<\/strong> who completed research, interviews, and the Innovation Next process included Margot Mausner,<\/a> Julian Gindi, and Maggie Gaudaen<\/a>. They were also joined by several others<\/strong> who helped bring the project to life, Laura Pursel<\/a>, Maggie Famiglietti<\/a>, Thomas Degry and Zach Saale<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
