is good to stop sometimes and think about how our profession is closely linked to a social context and observe how it influences and is influenced by technological and human progress.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">I have recently made these thoughts when I discovered and deepened the project <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/childrensdesignguide.org\/\">\u2018Design for Children\u2019s right guide\u2019<\/a><\/strong>, or <strong>the guide to design with respect for children&#8217;s rights<\/strong> and to act at the core of the creative process.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5307\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guide-design-respect-childrens-rights-2-960x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">The project was born in Helsinki in 2018 during an event that brought together designers, researchers, neuroscientists, psychologists, psychiatrists, educators and experts in children&#8217;s rights in collaboration with <strong>UNICEF<\/strong>.<\/span> <span title=\"\">Since then there have been many steps forward, especially in refining the guide and spreading it as much as possible between the interested public and companies in the sector;<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">in this regard, an association was founded, <a href=\"http:\/\/designingforchildrensrights.org\/\"><em><strong>Designing for Children&#8217;s Rights (D4CR) &#8211; Association<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, with the aim of establishing new <strong>standards<\/strong> for the design related to the youngest and to inform about their <strong>rights<\/strong>, as established by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/what-we-do\/un-convention-child-rights\/\"><strong>United Nations<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">The guide consists of <strong>10 principles<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/childrensdesignguide.org\/\">you can find them on this page<\/a><\/strong>, which mainly touch on three macro themes:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\"><strong>Inclusiveness<\/strong>, intended not only of gender or age, but also as collaboration in the game and participation in the creative process;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\"><strong>Consciousness<\/strong>, in the sense of guiding the child in understanding himself and what surrounds him, even through moments of rest;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\"><strong>Security<\/strong>, not only &#8220;physical&#8221;, but above all technological.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">This last topic is particularly interesting in this historical period, in fact the guide underlines the importance of protecting users from the <strong>dangers of the web<\/strong>, from the data business and from unwanted contents.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">We talked about it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/the-sale-of-toys-in-the-age-of-baby-influencers\/\"><strong>in this article<\/strong><\/a> and besides considering necessary a concrete action on the subject, we think that the attention to the safety of the child in the design and communication phase can be transformed into a <strong>key value<\/strong> at the moment of the parents&#8217; choice of purchase<\/span>; they are<span class=\"\" title=\"\"> indeed increasingly aware of the less crystalline sides of the network, in particular regarding the products and services for children.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5306\" class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">But it doesn&#8217;t end here, because <strong>the guide to design with respect for children&#8217;s rights<\/strong> is accompanied by a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/childrensdesignguide.org\/methods-practices\/\"><strong>useful methods and practices<\/strong><\/a>, a kind of toolkit, for every designer.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">On the website there&#8217;s a list of tools that the designer can use in the five design phases (research, definition, development, prototyping and evaluation) divided according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justinmind.com\/blog\/double-diamond-model-what-is-should-you-use\/\"><strong>&#8220;double diamond&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> scheme, dear to design thinking.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">Both the guide and the association are under <strong>development<\/strong> and looking for <a href=\"http:\/\/designingforchildrensrights.org\/get-involved\/\"><strong>support<\/strong><\/a>;<\/span> <span title=\"\">we believe that provide the principles and tools for a <strong>child-friendly ethical design<\/strong> is an excellent starting point that can meet the approval of many designers involved in these issues;<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">it would probably be useful, as a future step, to show on the website some examples of <strong>worth products or companies<\/strong>, case studies &#8220;approved&#8221; by the association or developed
