{"id":4296,"date":"2017-11-14T20:11:57","date_gmt":"2017-11-14T19:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/?p=4296"},"modified":"2020-05-04T12:20:45","modified_gmt":"2020-05-04T10:20:45","slug":"mini-helicopter-for-hape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/mini-helicopter-for-hape\/","title":{"rendered":"MINI HELICOPTER FOR HAPE"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">FLIGHT OF FANCY<\/h2>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">CAN PLASTIC AND\u00a0BAMBOO FLY TOGETHER?<\/h5>\n<p>This has been the challenge of the<strong> Mini-Vehicles collection by Hape. <\/strong>Bamboo is said to be &#8220;the wood of the future&#8221; because it grows really fast, just like giant grass. And its fibers, put\u00a0together, are as strong as wood. The point is: working it is not an easy business because the cylindrical shape is very variable, so why not to select the diameter of sticks in order to use it for mass production? This is what this collection is about and it was very exciting to ride on\u00a0the challenge of making bamboo\u00a0and plastic work together.<\/p>\n<p>There are many little stories about the design of this toy. One of these is that when I was asked to design\u00a0an helicopter for this collection I realized that I literally falled in love with helicopters, especially the small ones with a big cabin and an essential structure that\u00a0make them look like flyes. I was particularly inspired by <em>mosquito helicopters<\/em>\u00a0so I wanted the toy helicopter to grab this imaginary and at the same time look\u00a0dynamic and organic with bamboo.<\/p>\n<p>The top plastic part represents the engine, part of the tail, a good part of the cabin and the support for the blades, the bottom part\u00a0supports the rest of the cabin and the three\u00a0wheels.
