Nowadays we can find increasingly how gamification<\/strong> or video game inspired thinking<\/strong> can be integrated in non-digital learning,\u00a0<\/strong>even in\u00a0wooden toys design<\/strong>. For example,\u00a0to explore\u00a0<\/strong>basic arithmetic,<\/strong> among other knowledge, will\u00a0try to maximize, through play, the interest of learners.

\nGamification in learning<\/a><\/strong> is a new strategy based on gaming concept to influence, engage and motivate<\/strong>\u00a0children to learn.<\/p>\n

The craft of deriving all the fun and addicting elements\u00a0found in games and applying\u00a0them to real-world or productive activities.<\/p>\n

SumBlox<\/strong><\/a> is a wooden toy<\/strong> designed by David Skaggs<\/strong> to help a kid with disruption in the early learning education<\/a><\/strong> owing to his short attention span.<\/p>\n

He started to think in a game that could help the kid see and apply new concepts while reinforcing the\u00a0old ones. He observed that using learning games<\/strong> from cards to iPad games the kid started showing\u00a0improvement but in the case of the math games for\u00a0the iPad weren\u2019t designed to hold the child attention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We needed a game that could keep his attention
\nlong enough to learn, grow and make real progress.<\/p>\n

This is how SumBlox<\/a><\/strong> born, a math teaching toy<\/strong> that takes learning maths to a whole new level.
\nThese carved wooden number blocks help children to learn through play<\/strong>, develop the understanding\u00a0of numbers value, problem-solving and also develop their imagination and basic motor skills.<\/p>\n

SumBlox<\/a><\/strong> is like a new version of the Cuisenaire Rods<\/a><\/strong>. It removes the colors and adds the symbolic\u00a0numbers, providing an additional logical dimension to the design<\/a><\/strong>. Also it is inspired in video game\u00a0thinking, with the aim of motivate kids to learn, engage with challenges and develop unique problem\u00a0solving skills.<\/p>\n
