First of all it is <strong>open<\/strong>, that is something we were not used to just a few years back. It is not the only, luckily this kind of projects are spreading all over the world (of course it is the spirit) and related to many issues. One of my favorites is definitely the medical area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546.jpg\" alt=\"enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546-320x213.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546-960x640.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/enablehandsmap-1-e1442256145546-640x427.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">Of course reasoning on <strong>open development<\/strong>, especially on a <strong>medical<\/strong>\u00a0background sounds like a real <strong>change<\/strong>. And it is indeed! \u00a0First of all for\u00a0its economic implications, because it means abandoning traditional entrepreneurship (based on the opposing producer and consumer) and rather cooperate in making available a product (or the way to gather it) to\u00a0everybody. E-Nable&#8217;s\u00a0statement is &#8220;We are not a company.\u00a0We do not sell our devices.&#8221; and this is what they really do! And that&#8217;s brilliant, yet a bit weird if we think the old &#8220;profit-oriented&#8221; way. Instead, they ask for donations and sponsorships. And if we spread this the word-scale sounds like something that can actually happen and grow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The other thing I love is the <strong>look<\/strong> of some of those hands. In some cases they managed to bridge the gap <strong>between a medical supply and a kids product<\/strong>, making them\u00a0feel like heroes, like they are <strong>special<\/strong>, in a good way this time! And that is a great message not only for them, but for all people involved in\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/category\/disability\/\" target=\"_blank\">disability<\/a><\/strong> in a very wide way.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt.jpg\" alt=\"groupkidscapt\" width=\"1304\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt.jpg 1304w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt-320x147.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt-768x353.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt-960x442.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/groupkidscapt-640x294.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1304px) 100vw, 1304px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>People from E-nable are volunteers that do\u00a0not sell devices but instead encourage parents and individuals to create them on their own, guide them in the building process and print parts for those that need them.<\/p>\n<p>The designers at E-nable offer their assistance and design skills at no cost to aid those that would like to DIY (do it yourself) one of these devices and has numerous members that are willing to take on individual cases to help custom design around different shaped hands or needs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Africa3.jpg\" alt=\"Africa3\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Africa3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Africa3-320x240.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Africa3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.toy-design.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Africa3-640x480.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, doors are open, there is a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/communities\/102497715636887179986\" target=\"_blank\">Google+ community<\/a><\/strong> if you would like to aid the development of open source 3d printed prostheses or create a prosthesis yourself, join the community!<\/p>\n<p>e-NABLE is not officially affiliated with the Robohand Project in South Africa.
